The Vienna Gold Philharmonic Series

coin was first issued in 1989 in honor of the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Originally issued with a face value of 2,000 Schillings, the face value was changed to 100 euros in 2002, following the transition to the euro. Currently, in addition to the 1 oz gold coin, the series also includes various sizes of split coins, as well as silver and platinum coins. To mark the series' 20th anniversary, the Austrian Mint issued a special 20 oz Vienna Gold coin with a purity of .9999. Vienna Gold Coin Design: Since

the

series' inception, the Vienna Gold coin has featured the magnificent pipe organ in the Vienna Philharmonic's "Golden Hall" on the obverse, and musical instrument motifs on the reverse. The reverse beautifully depicts instruments such as a cello, violin, harp, Vienna horn, and bassoon, conveying a design that embodies both respect for music and artistry.
