The Troll – When Coins Come to Life
The power of imagination can create entire worlds – and with a UV lamp that reveals hidden colours these worlds awaken right in the palm of your hand. This is what makes the Mythical Creatures series truly unique: black light technology brings each coin to life, immersing you in a magical realm where fantasy and reality meet.
The series begins on 5 November with The Troll coin. On the front, the troll is rendered in vivid detail, almost as if it could step right out of the coin. A stone bridge, golden ornamentation and a mysterious four-toed footprint enhance the fairy-tale atmosphere. But the true magic reveals itself under UV light as colours burst into a brilliant glow, the word ‘Troll’ shines vividly and the creature seems to come to life before your eyes.
The reverse of the coin shows an intricately decorated key with the letter ‘F’ representing the first letter of the German name of the coin series. Stars shimmer all around it and the irregularly shaped letters look as if they have sprung from a magical world. The coin’s obverse reinforces this effect with its textured relief and whimsical lettering, giving the entire coin a magical appearance.
