Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926, and ascended to the throne at the age of 25 in 1952 following the death of her father, George VI. She married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 1947 and had four children. Her reign lasted 70 years, making her the longest-reigning monarch in British history. Throughout her life, the Queen was a symbol of unwavering spirit and dedication, leading the monarchy through decades of social and political upheaval. As head of state of the Commonwealth, she fostered unity among diverse nations and demonstrated an unwavering presence on the international stage. Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, 2022, and her eldest son, Charles III
, succeeded to the throne. In 2026, the world will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's birth, celebrating a life filled with service, dignity, and dedication to her country and the Commonwealth. The reverse side of the coin features five portraits, each depicted on coins issued by the Perth Mint, symbolizing different eras of the Queen's historic reign. At the center is the most recent portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (2019), designed by Jody Clarke, elegantly framed in a splendid design. Surrounding it are the four earlier portraits. In the upper left is Ian Rank-Broadley (1998), in the lower left is Raphael McLaugh (1985), in the lower right is Arnold Machine (1966), and in the upper right is Mary Gillick (1953). These portraits reflect the image of the Queen as she evolved throughout her 70-year reign. In the background is the golden wattle, Australia's national flower, symbolizing Australia's connection to the Commonwealth. Clockwise from the top are the St. Edward's Crown, the Crown, the Tudor Rose, and the Scepter, each representing an important element of royal tradition and authority.
Around the design are the words "HM QUEEN ELIZABETH II 100th ANNIVERSARY," stylized dots, the year 2026, and the Perth Mint's "P" mint mark.
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of King Charles III by Dan Thorne, and is marked with its weight, purity, and face value.
