This tune ends almost all the adventures of Lucky Luke, the brainchild of Belgian comic strip author Maurice De Bevere and better known by the pseudonym Morris. Together with his faithful horse Jolly Jumper and Rataplan, the dumbest dog in the West, Lucky Luke has been traveling through the wild plains of the Far West since 1946 to fight crime and injustice. In his long, eventful cowboy career, he has put more crooks behind bars than all the sheriffs of America put together. Billy the Kid, Jesse James, the Daltons and many other gunslingers can tell you all about it.
The Lucky Luke series became one of the most successful European comic series ever. Since its inception, more than 300 million albums have been sold worldwide, the series has been translated into some 30 languages and has been shown as an animated series in some 50 countries. According to experts, the stories written by Asterix scriptwriter René Goscinny from 1955 to 1977 are among the absolute best. Morris died in 2001, but unlike, for example, Hergé's Tintin, the Lucky Luke storyline is continued to this day by other artists and scriptwriters such as Achdé and Gerra.
First Belgian coin of the man who shoots faster than his shadow!
After Tintin, Suske & Wiske, Robbedoes and many other heroes of the Belgian comic strip, Lucky Luke now also has his own Belgian comic strip coin. We say 'coin', because we previously published two comic strip medals for the birthday of our lonely cowboy. We also say 'Belgian' because French Lucky Luke euros were already released about three years ago. The one and only, real, Belgian Lucky Luke coin is the 5 euro one that you can now admire in this issue and... order right away!
Available for you in two attractive versions!
Just like many of our comic coins, this Lucky Luke 5 euro coin was also issued in two versions: in relief and in colour. The obverse of both pieces features the inseparable duo Lucky Luke and Jolly Jumper. The 5 euro coin in colour, however, shows the 'poor lonesome' cowboy and his faithful horse in the original colours of the albums and also comes in a different coin card packaging. This makes the difference between the two 5 euro coins even greater. And so the desire to order both versions at once also grows.
