Replacing Queen Victoria’s long-familiar likeness, King Edward VII’s image embodied the promise of a new century—one shaped by the modernization and growth of the Edwardian era, which would lay the groundwork for Canada’s eventual coming of age.
The 2027 Pure Gold Fractional Set draws inspiration from Canada’s 1902 25- and 50-cent coins, which retained the maple wreath while introducing King Edward VII’s effigy and a new Imperial crown design.
