This pure-silver coin commemorates the strategic mind of Napoleon and his legions against the armies of the Third Coalition, led by Francis I&II, Emperor of Austria and the Holy Roman Empire, and Alexander I, Tsar of Russia.
Known as the “Battle of the Three Emperors”, the coins in this collection pay tribute to the three belligerents. On the face of the coin, the portraits of Alexander 1st and Francis I&II are on the left, facing the victorious Napoleon, riding at first light on the battlefield of Austerlitz. In the foreground, Napoleon's legions form ranks and march towards the battlefield.
The reverse of this coin is inspired by the original medal struck in 1806 in honor of Napoleon's victory at Austerlitz. In the center, a winged scepter topped by a statuette of Charlemagne and accompanied by lightning bolts. This composition evokes all the symbolism of Napoleon 1st's ancient imperial imagery.
