This collector coin marks the 85th anniversary of Walt Disney Animation Studio’s Pinocchio, in 2025.
Pinocchio is a wooden puppet brought to life by the Blue Fairy, who promises to make him a real boy if he proves brave, truthful, and unselfish. Though kind at heart, Pinocchio struggles to do what’s right, even with the guidance from his conscience, Jiminy Cricket. He skips school to join a puppet show and gets into trouble on Pleasure Island. Telling the truth isn’t easy for Pinocchio either, with each lie he tells he is quickly exposed when his nose begins to grow. Despite his flaws, Pinocchio deeply loves his father, Geppetto. His first truly selfless act comes when he risks everything to save Geppetto from a whale. That sacrifice shows the Blue Fairy of his worthiness. With that, the Blue fairy turns Pinocchio into a real boy, making his dream come true.
