This collector coin marks the 85th anniversary in 2025 of the Walt Disney animation studios' film Pinocchio.
Pinocchio is a wooden puppet brought to life by the Blue Fairy. She promises to make him a real boy if he proves to be brave, sincere, and selfless. Although kind at heart, Pinocchio struggles to do the right thing, even with the guidance of his conscience, Jiminy Cricket. He skips school to participate in a puppet show and gets into trouble on Pleasure Island. Telling the truth isn't easy for Pinocchio either, as every time he lies, he's quickly found out when his nose starts to grow. Despite his flaws, Pinocchio deeply loves his father, Geppetto. His first truly selfless act occurs when he risks everything to save Geppetto from a whale. This sacrifice shows the Blue Fairy that he is worthy of her attention. The Blue Fairy then transforms Pinocchio into a real boy, thus fulfilling his dream.
