Since 1935, DC, part of Warner Bros. Discovery, has been creating iconic characters and enduring stories, and is one of the world's leading publishers of comics and graphic novels. DC's creative work entertains audiences of all generations around the world with DC stories and characters.

In 2025, to mark the 90th anniversary of DC Comics, Monnaie de Paris paid tribute to the iconic characters of the DC Comics universe. From Batman, the Dark Knight, to Superman, the Man of Steel and Wonder Woman, the Amazonian warrior, all of whom were featured on the coins.

In 2026, Monnaie de Paris continues to honour one of the iconic superheroes of the DC Comics universe: Batman!

Since 1935, DC Comics has been captivating us with superhero stories, particularly those featuring one hero in particular: BATMAN. This coin features his enemies: the Penguin, the Joker and Harley Quinn.

The Joker, Harley Quinn and the Penguin are among Batman’s most famous enemies in Gotham City. The Joker, a criminal as dangerous as he is unpredictable, wreaks havoc wherever he goes. Harley Quinn, a former psychiatrist who became his accomplice, has long shared in his criminal adventures before occasionally going her own way. For his part, the Penguin, a powerful crime boss with a respectable façade, uses his influence and illegal businesses to challenge Batman, turning Gotham into a playground where the Dark Knight must constantly battle crime and corruption.

On the obverse, Batman’s three enemies are depicted joining forces to spread terror throughout Gotham City.

On the reverse, the face value is surrounded by two branches – one of oak and the other of laurel – which evoke the Euro symbol. The entire design on the reverse is framed by the words ‘République Française’ and a pattern of lines representing the Hexagon.
