Proof coins are coins struck with polished dies and multiple strikes to give the surface a high-gloss finish. This is the best quality of strike available for coins and medals. High quality requirements are placed on every single proof coin. All proof coins are carefully checked by experts, and only the perfect ones are released on the market. The coins are struck several times with strikes that have a force of up to 250 tons. A regular circulation coin is struck only once, while proof coins always have to be struck several times.
